Begging the Question

The Fallacy

A circular argument in which the conclusion is included in the premise.

Why it's wrong

This logically incoherent argument often arises in situations where people have an assumption that is very ingrained, and therefore taken in their minds as simply a given. Circular reasoning is bad mostly because it's not very good.

Example

The book 'The Truth of the Universe' states that it is infallible. We know this claim is true because it says so right there in the book.
