Survivorship Bias

What is it?

Concentrating on the people or things that 'survived' some process and inadvertently overlooking those that didn't.

Why is it bad?

Concentrating on the users or servers that 'survived' some process (like hitting 100k members) and inadvertently overlooking those that didn't.

To make your server huge, you just have to ping everyone daily. The biggest server does it and they have 500k members! (Ignoring the 1000 servers that died doing the exact same thing).
