Straw Man

The Fallacy

Making up a fake, silly version of what someone said just so you can easily say it's wrong.

Why it's wrong

Imagine your friend says they want one cookie. You yell, 'Why do you want to eat all the cookies in the world and leave none for us?!' You changed their words to make them sound bad. That's a straw man.

Example

Mom says we need to clean our room. I say, 'Mom wants us to work all day and never have fun ever again!'
