Nirvana Fallacy
The Fallacy
Rejecting a proposed solution to a problem because it is not perfect.
Why it's wrong
Also known as the perfect solution fallacy. By creating a false dichotomy between a perfect solution (which rarely exists) and a good, realistic one, this fallacy prevents any progress from being made. It lets the perfect be the enemy of the good.
Example
The senator voted against the new seatbelt law, arguing that since people will still die in car accidents even with seatbelts, there's no point in mandating them at all.
