Nirvana Fallacy

The Definition

Rejecting a good political solution to a societal problem because it is not a perfect utopian fix.

The Explanation

Partisans sometimes kill incremental progress because it doesn't solve 100% of an issue, letting the 'perfect' be the enemy of the 'good.'

Political Example

The representative voted against the bill that would reduce child poverty by 40%, arguing that unless the bill eliminated poverty completely, it was a waste of time.
