Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc
The Definition
Assuming that because political event B came after event A, A must have caused B.
The Explanation
Presidents often take credit for economic recoveries that began before they took office, or get blamed for recessions caused by global events outside their control.
Political Example
A new Mayor was elected, and a month later, it rained for a week straight, ending a drought. The Mayor claimed his election brought the rain.
