Shotgun Argumentation
The Fallacy
Firing so many arguments at an opponent that they cannot possibly answer them all.
Why it's wrong
This technique, also known as the Gish Gallop, aims to overwhelm the opponent. The user of this fallacy isn't interested in a debated point-by-point rebuttal, but rather in creating the appearance of having 'too much evidence' to be wrong, simply by the sheer volume of claims, regardless of their individual quality.
Example
In the debate, the conspiracy theorist listed fifty 'anomalies' in two minutes. When the scientist couldn't address all of them in her rebuttal time, the theorist claimed victory.
